Spalding County
is located in a region that
has experienced explosive population growth,
and thereby draws employees from
approximately 10 counties. When recruiting
workers, some existing industries must post
signs indicating that applications are only
taken on certain days of the week, or that
they should apply at the Griffin office of the
Georgia Department of Labor.
Potential job seekers include: workers now
commuting out of Spalding County, but
wanting comparable employment near home;
workers currently working in the county, but
who are under-employed for their skill or
educational level; people who now stay
at home or work part-time, but would work
if suitable jobs were available near home;
and those who are nearing graduation from
universities, and would like to come home.
Major segments of the labor pool, in addition
to currently employed workers with industrial
experience, include recent high school and
vocational School graduates, those who have
recently returned from military service and,
of course, school dropouts. Griffin-Spalding County is currently
home to 120 manufacturers. Take a look at our
existing manufacturers, who
are served by a superior labor market.
